BACKGROUND

JANTOM Motor Product Sales is a registered Motor Vehicle Dealer located in Kars, Ontario, Canada. The village of Kars is part of the amalgamated City of Ottawa. The business was founded in 1989 and is named JANTOM after Tom and his wife Jan.

The business is currently operated by brothers Tom and Al Phillips and has no permanent staff. Low overhead allows JANTOM to provide "an excellent vehicle at a reasonable price" to its customers.

MARKET FOCUS

The business focus is on building a client base from referrals; where one satisfied customer tells another, and another. Currently, over 85% of our sales come from referral sources. This is highly unusual in the used vehicle market, and is what sets up apart. The geographical focus is in the south Ottawa area, but many of our referral clients comes from a far wider area.

The owners look diligently for well maintained, low mileage vehicles; at the "right" price. Although our store front inventory is small, we have excellent contacts to obtain a full spectrum of used vehicles; to meet the requirements of our clients.

VEHICLE FOCUS

The market is ever changing, but right now we have some specific vehicle targets.

  1. Late model low mileage Import vehicles: Honda, Toyota, Mazda. Excellent value for money, reliable, good warranties and fuel economy.
  2. Vehicle Brokerage: You tell us what you require, we find it "the right car at the right price" No hassle for the buyer, we do all the leg work to get you the car you need. Low overhead equals low price for you.
  3. Older Value Vehicles: You know the ones we mean!! Our hard work looking for cars often turns up those older "diamonds"; excellent older cars with lots of life left...for a good price.
  4. Specialty Vehicles: We have a passion for the antiques, classics, and muscle cars. In the past years we have imported vehicles from North Carolina and Arizona, as well as sold some classics from Ontario and Quebec. Call us, we may know where to find the car you want! WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

  • We work 85% from referrals; we are not sitting in the office hoping someone will drop in!! If you do stop by, the vehicle information is posted in the car. Please contact us...we would be pleased to see you and discuss your vehicle needs.
  • We are located beside our Service Partner; Rideau Valley Automative. (613-489-4161). They can assist with questions about our vehicles or services, and provide complete service and repairs for the vehicles as well.
  • We have no staff to pay, our overhead is low, our vehicles are re-conditioned and cleaned to the highest standards.
  • We have other sources of income; so our sales atmosphere is friendly, low key, with no sense of sales pressure.
  • We encourage customers to test drive vehicles, and have them checked by their mechanic before they buy.
  • We offer Competitive Financing through our Finance Partner; DealerPlan. They are a full service "finance broker" (like a mortgage broker, only for vehicles), who provide low rate bank financing to our clients.
  • We have no sales administration fees. What you pay is the price of the vehicle plus the taxes.
  • We are Christians. We have built the business on sound Christian principles; treating others as you would like to be treated, with honesty and fairness. This has resulted in over 85% of our business coming from repeat customers and referrals.
